Metadata
Information about the content, quality, condition, and other characteristics of data. Metadata for geographic data may document its subject matter; how, when, where, and by whom the data was collected; accuracy of the data; availability and distribution information; its projection, scale, resolution, and accuracy; and its reliability with regard to some standard. Metadata consists of properties and documentation. Properties are derived from the data source (for example, the coordinate system and projection of the data), while documentation is entered by a person (for example, keywords used to describe the data).

Multiple Enhanced Postal Code File (MEP)
The Multiple Enhanced Postal Code File is a database file containing 973,807 (as of V6.3) six digit postal codes in Canada, as well as a link to Statistics Canada’s standard census geographic areas. The reason this file is called ‘Multiple’ is because in some cases it is necessary to represent a postal code in more than one location.
Municipal Aliases
This file is a combination of CSD names, formerly used names (Downsview, Etobicoke), and a total of names collected by observation through the extensive data processing undertaken by DMTI Spatial.
Municipal Boundaries
The municipal boundaries are derived from the 1996 Census Subdivision (CSD) boundary files.
Municipal Centroid
The municipal centroids are located based on shorelined CSD boundaries.
