Takes the input as address information and looks up its geographic location in the form of longitude and latitude from the address point source database, or street segment source database in the geo-reference database (Georef).
Address Point Data Model
A data model based on address point data information. Using address point data, each address is represented by a sourced graphic point. This procedure will geocode to the corresponding point directly rather than interpolating the point’s location.
Alias
An alternative name specified for fields, tables, and feature classes that is used by other parties. An example of the application is an Alias Table that lists alternative names of Municipalities or Roads. Such tables are commonly used during Geocoding.
ArcSDE

Attribute
Description relating to an item on a map. An example of an attribute would be street names or street types.
Azimuthal Projection
A form of map projection in which the earth is projected onto a conceptual tangent or secant plane. Azimuthal projections are characterized by the fact that the azimuth, or direction, from the center of the projection to every other point on the map is shown correctly. Therefore, the shortest route from the center point to any other point is shown as a straight line. (source ArcGIS)
