Address Recognition Services

Overview

The Location Hub™ platform is comprised of multiple services. The Address Recognition service is one component of Location Hub that provides Canadian mailing and legal address recognition functionality for the enterprise.  Additional functionality includes parsing (separating address into components), cleansing, matching and verification against our Canadian-wide address repository. This service assigns a unique identifier to every Canadian address and uses this value during its communication with your enterprise application.

The service accepts Canadian addresses in either parsed, unparsed or free form formats and returns validated versions of these addresses and the corresponding unique address identifier.
Addresses that require additional processing are validated by setting user-defined relaxation standards that meet customer requirements.

Usage

• Address cleansing and standardization to correct for errors or missing address elements to meet nomenclature rules of Canada Post, municipalities or user defined specifications.
• Matching of address records to improve customer database integration activities and to establish a common and consolidated view of customers across an enterprise  
• Provide address validation for workflows or security controls that require address information that has been cross-referenced to “prove” authenticity as an active postal address
• Establish and maintain persistent linking of addresses for mission-critical enterprise data to allow for the joining of disparate databases and to sustain ongoing update cycles with address records

• Advanced address parsing by converting multiple address data formats (unparsed/freeform) into parsed address elements that can be stored in new tables or recombined to align more closely with your specific business needs.
• Scrubbing technology for each unique address element and indicators of which data elements were modified.
• Address standardization rules to correct number (address/suite) values, convert to a consistent case (upper/lower/mixed), eliminate or preserve French accents, etc.
• Exact and Fuzzy matching rules can be used to recognize and match those specific records which are missing key address elements or those which are represented incorrectly.

Security

• Services run through Location Hub are all exposed as WS-* compliant web services.  Communication with Location Hub services is based on the SOAP protocol running on top of either textual HTTP or binary TCP/IP protocols.
• Location Hub services are secured using a federated security based on WS-Federation standard and/or SSL certificates.
• Location Hub Resource STS service supports distributing security domains. In other words, companies can manage their own users in a secure environment and use their local credentials to gain access to Location Hub, via Location Hub Resource STS service.
