Web Service Security
A Technical Note
Every day companies send vast amounts of information across internal and external networks with the knowledge that the data is protected and secure. In order to meet the highest security standards, Location Hub™ utilizes current Internet security resources and protocols endorsed through the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I). Using WS-Security is crucial to maintaining end-to-end security ensuring sensitive information is encrypted from the point of release to the services entry point of the Location Hub platform.
From the initial login through the transfer of client address records, a safe and secure connection for data is provided using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security protocol or message level security.
Location Hub Communication/Security:
- Communication between Location Hub services and the client application utilize SOAP – on top of HTTP(S) or binary TCP/IP protocols
- Public Security Token Service (STS)
- Security token is issued, which Location Hub users can attach to their messages when calling the Resource STS service.
- Companies have the option to manage their own users and use their local credentials to obtain access to Location Hub
- WS-Federation standard can be utilized
Security around our customer information is strictly enforced and includes protocols that:
store customer data in physically isolated areas, stamp appropriate usage codes to all records and carefully monitor transactions that use Location Hub services.
