Microsoft Canadian Datacentres Expand DMTI Spatial’s Canadian Footprint
Microsoft Canada announced today that the Microsoft Cloud is now officially open to power even more Canadian businesses. With this announcement, Microsoft Azure is generally available from local datacentre regions located in Toronto and Quebec City, and Office 365 is now offering data residency for Canadian business customers. In addition, Dynamics CRM Online is scheduled to go live by September 2016 to bring the most complete cloud, with leadership across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid scenarios, to enable people and organizations to achieve more.
This announcement marks a significant expansion of Microsoft’s trusted cloud services into Canada. Azure and Office 365 customers gain the benefits of Microsoft’s trusted cloud services combined with data residency in Canada. This includes data redundancy in multiple locations within Canada for business continuity and the option of a fast and private connection to the cloud with Azure ExpressRoute.
DMTI Spatial, Canada’s leader in location intelligence solutions and an early adopter of Microsoft Azure, provides high precision, location-based data and services to many of Canada’s largest public and private sector organizations where data privacy is critical to their business. With Azure’s new datacenters in Toronto and Quebec City, customer data can now be maintained within Canada, alleviating security concerns. Additionally, DMTI Spatial engineers add thousands of high precision addresses to its database every week, and delivering the data through the cloud means customers always have access to the most recent, accurate data and can confidently integrate it in real-time into their businesses.
The cloud offers solutions, cost savings, efficiency, productivity and reliability. It enables organizations – of any size, and in any sector – to collaborate, compete and excel in an increasingly mobile world.
“The opening of Microsoft’s local datacentres not only addresses data residency needs for Public Sector customers in Canada but also unlocks a tremendous opportunity for them to transform their business, help cut costs and be more agile in a cloud-first, mobile-first world. Together with an amazing ecosystem of technology partners who offer innovative solutions and services, we can help Canadian organizations leverage the power of the cloud to ultimately be more efficient and productive,” said Mike Tremblay, vice president, Microsoft Canada.
“The launch of Microsoft’s new datacentres comes at the perfect time for us because there is a real need to keep sensitive data safe in today’s fast-paced world, particularly in the financial and insurance industries,” said Paul Franc, vice president and general manager of DMTI Spatial. “And by using the cloud, our customers are leveraging location intelligence with their own customer applications in ways that were not possible before. We are excited to see the Azure cloud coming home to Canada.”
